Jim Finseth, Fine Wood Artist
Tables
Challenge: After completing a rustic exercise room for a good customer, he wanted a coffee table that with would blend in with the room’s interior.
Solution: Jim Finseth began with a solid piece of burl wood. This is typically scrap chunks of stumps that have little value. Jim took the wood to a local saw mill where it was cut into 6- three inch slabs. These slabs were kiln-dried and seasoned, and then glued together to create one large, solid table top. The next challenge was how to create a base for the heavy tabletop. Jim took two inch wide pieces of left over tongue and groove wall paneling from living room, and build a custom tongue and grove pyramid pedestal. The entire table was naturally finished using no stain to accent the wood’s beauty.
Result: Customer was delighted, and said: “this is just what I imagined for this room.”
